Another Weekend At Harry's
by
Nicola Brittle

July 21st arrived and after shoehorning the gas barbecue into the car, myself and Simon set off to Harry's, me by car and Simon by bike.
Upon arrival at the site we quickly set up the gazebo to act as club house and filled the fridge with beers.
First to arrive was ex-member Brenda along with her daughter Yvonne and two teenage girls plus two of Brenda's friends, Allan and Angie. Even though they had arrived in cars they got a warm welcome.
Next to arrive was Tony the Tin followed closely by John and Martina Waters, all the way from Luton, on their newly acquired GTR - and what a nice, genuine bike it is.
After erecting their tents they joined in the barbecue and had a few beers before descending on the site owner's club for a last few beers before bedtime.
The run out on Saturday consisted of just three bikes - Honda Pan, GTR and ER500. And so we made our way to Scarborough and did the usual sightseeing bit and retail therapy before having the compulsory ice-cream.
We decided to head back to the site early in order to have another barbecue with a load of extra food I had mistakenly bought thinking we would have a larger KGT attendance. The barbie had just been lit when the heavens opened. High wind, torrential rain - you name it - so we went to the Fenton Flyer pub to have a meal and shelter from the elements, then back to the site for the evening's entertainment.
It was the site owner's birthday and she had put on a big spread which she encouraged us to get stuck into, which we did.
After a good singalong and plenty of beers John and Martina retired to bed as they had a long journey home the next day. Myself and Simon lasted till 2.45am. The rest of the clientele rolled out after 4am. It was a great weekend.
Thanks to John and Martina, Tony the Tin and all the non-biking fraternity who made the weekend worthwhile.
